Our story

Basket of flowers Farm was born in the late summer of 2018 when I (Paula) stumbled across a story about Floret Farms in Washington State where a young mother decided to grow some flowers and turn it into a “budding” business! Her story resonated with me so much as I grew up loving to garden along with my sister and mother and wanted to do something for our family that would hopefully help out financially along with being able to stay at home with my young children. That afternoon after reading Erin's story, I called up some florists to see what they gave for certain types of flowers and was blown away! Soon after I purchased my first tulip bulbs to plant that fall which was the start of our business. I initially thought that the bulbs only needed to be purchased and planted once but unfortunately I learned that is not the case with flower farmers since the plant is harvested for the bloom, it no longer has the energy to produce a flower the next year so tulips need to be purchased every fall and planted again for spring harvest. Needless to say that was one of many lessons learned throughout my journey so far as a flower farmer and I suppose I will be in for many more lessons learned along the way still.

We initially started out selling our flowers at a roadside stand at the end of my parents driveway and at our local farmers market. We also tried our hand at bouquet subscriptions and workshops.

Currently we offer our fresh flowers through over the phone purchases for pickup or delivery for any occasion, weddings and other events through our Order Flowers page and public on-the-farm U-Picks.

We are currently breeding our own line of flowers that we sell through our online store in the winter time along with Ranunculus and Anemone corms in the fall.

Our hope is one day to have this buisness be our family's main income and have my husband work from home and our children learn along side us. You being here is helping to make that dream a reality! So thank you IMMENSELY!

MY NAME IS PAULA AND I'M ABUNDANTLY BLESSED BY MY SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST TO BE ON THIS AMAZING JOURNEY CALLED “LIFE”! SO FAR ON THIS 30+ YEAR JOURNEY I'VE BEEN HONORED TO BE A DAUGHTER TO THE MOST SELF-SACRFICING PARENTS, SISTER TO SOME WONDERFUL, LOVING SIBLINGS, WIFE TO SERIOUSLY THE MOST AMAZING MAN IN THE WORLD (SO SORRY LADIES😊) AND A STAY-AT-HOME MOTHER TO FOUR BEAUTIFUL PRINCESSES AND OUR NEWEST LITTLE PRINCE WITH WHOM I COULDN'T BE MORE HAPPY TO SPEND ALL MY DAYS WITH!

HERE ARE SOME MORE INTERESTING BLESSINGS THAT GOD HAS GRACIOUSLY SPRINKLED THROUGH MY LIFE THUS FAR: MISSIONING IN MEXICO WHERE SO MANY MEMORIES WERE MADE UP IN THE MOUNTAIN VILLAGES AROUND AN OPEN FIRE MAKING TORTILLAS AND WASHING CLOTHES ON THE ROCKS OF A CRYSTAL CLEAR RIVER, SHEPHERDING A FLOCK OF SHEEP THAT STARTED WITH HARMONY, A BOTTLE FED LAMB WHOM I DIAPERED AND BROUGHT WITH ME WHEREVER I WENT INCLUDING TO BED, BUILDING THE HARP OF MY DREAMS WITH MY FAMILY AND LEARNING THE SKILL TO PLAY FROM SOME WONDERFULLY PATIENT TEACHERS AND STARTING A HOMEMADE SOAP BUSINESS WITH MY LITTLE SISTER THAT WE KEPT GOING FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS DESPITE THE FACT THAT OUR FIRST ATTEMPT TURNED INTO A MINI VOLCANIC ERUPTION ALL OVER MOM'S KITCHEN😂!

I GREW UP IN THE COUNTRY WITH AN AMAZING STAY-AT-HOME MOM WHO LOVED FLOWER GARDENING AND EVEN GAVE MY LITTLE SISTER AND I FULL REINS WITH OUR OWN LITTLE PLOTS. I LOVED GOING TO OUR NEARBY NURSERIES AND PICKING OUT ALL OF THE PURPLE FLOWERING PLANTS AND TO THIS DAY MY DEAREST MOTHER TENDS TO OUR PLOTS WITH GREAT CARE.

I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER THAN WHEN SPENDING QUIET TIME WITH MY SAVIOUR, GOING ON MINI OR BIG ADVENTURES WITH MY FAMILY (TRAVELING, TAKING THE WRONG WAY HOME, MAKING MAPLE SYRUP, GOING FISHING BUT NOT CATCHING A THING, ETC...) DIGGING IN THE DIRT, BURYING MY FACE IN A BOUQUET OF ROSES THAT MY GIRLS PICKED FOR ME, GREETING MY HUSBAND EACH DAY WHEN HE COMES HOME AND KISSING MY BABY'S “TOOTSIE WOOTIES” (OR IN OTHER WORDS TOES😘).
